eastern washington can be a rather windy place—but this saturday afternoon was a particularly exceptional case. with 30mph winds rolling in less than an hour before guests were set to arrive, every detail of the reception had to be rearranged. tablecloths, hair, dust, dresses, party favors—everything was in flight.
but the opportunity to make this scene a horrible one, was not taken. instead, everyone pitched in and helped move everything to the shelter of the garage and front patio— while laughing. this day was & is a vivid reminder of how important it is to be a good character in the stories we find ourselves in. laughter in the place of complaining, joy in the face of discouragement!
as the sun set, the wind finally died down. dancing began. late-night wing stop was ordered and delivered. and truly, even on days like this, our cups run over.
